A Photo Shoot and a Request

Hello digi world!

Here's a couple of images I love of a fun couple. I loved getting to know Brittany and see this cute couple interact.

The day of the shoot I was so bummed.....weather was cloudy and dull. Not a good combination- especially since we were shooting up the canyon!

With some keen attention to where light was falling, where clouds were and with post-processing help we were able to get some gorgeous shots. We live in a beautiful world!

Here is my request for all brides and brides-to-be reading this: Don't forget about all the amazing things that make you who you are, and clue in your photographer. 

A few days before the shoot, Brittany and I discussed the theme that she was hoping for with the pictures (country/rustic) which was great, but after asking her about her interests I learned that both she and her fiance Josh loved cooking. This was fabulous inspiration for the shoot!

Well, I hope you enjoyed a few highlights from the shoot and remember- relish in sharing who YOU really are with your engagement and wedding photos- it makes for great inspiration and wonderfully unique images!

A Wedding Guest Checklist

Oh brides! We know the term "Bridezilla" is meant to be a bit offensive and snarky but let's be honest- who doesn't get a little cranky under extreme pressure? With our society frequently and forcefully telling us (and showing us) that weddings need to be perfect, it's no wonder some brides have breakdowns.

So much of wedding planning is devoted to those outside the bride and groom. For now, we'll refer to this very large group of people as "wedding guests". Here's a simplified Wedding Guest Checklist of items to help all those outsiders remember who this day is really about- those getting married.

Keep them Comfortable

One of the easiest ways to ensure your wedding stays on-point is by ensuring everyone is comfortable throughout the event. Many brides have multiple gowns or pairs of shoes to ensure that they will be able to comfortably enjoy their wedding throughout. Consider similar accommodations for guests- perhaps provide a basket of inexpensive flip-flops in a variety of sizes in case dancing feet get sore. Include emergency supplies like band-aides and spot-remover in a basket in the bathrooms. If the wedding will be held out-of doors provide protection from nature with bug-spray or parasols. The more comfortable everyone is, the more smooth your day will be and the more relaxed the whole event.

Keep them Involved

Weddings can be boring for those attending who feel no involvement. If a person is important enough to be invited to your wedding, they are important enough to be involved. Ask guests to write a message to the bride and groom and leave it in an old wine bottle to be opened at a later date. Have guests leave meaningful notes in a custom wedding guest sign-in book. Leave pens and paper at each table and ask guests to something romantic to leave behind. Have music requests cards for your guests to help select the music. There are so many ways to ensure wedding guests are involved in the wedding that will entertain them and take stress off of you.

Keep them in Perspective

Most of all, the best way to keep wedding guests focused on the wedding is to keep a good perspective. Remember, it's not your job as a bride to ensure that every guest loves your wedding and talks about it for years to come. Your job, in the end, is just to get married to the person you've chosen to spend your life with. Most guests are eager to help in making your wedding day special. One of the hardest tasks for brides is to let them.
